Robert Lutz is an FAA Airline Transport Pilot, Certified Flight Instructor and German Sport Pilot with over 6,700 hours logged. His career in aviation includes operating as captain on jet, turboprop, piston multiengine aircraft, helicopters, gyroplanes, tail dragger, and aerobatic aircraft. Lutz has trained all levels of certification for piloting fixed wing single and multiengine airplanes. Many of his students are now employed at some of the most respected airlines and charter companies across the globe.
Starting his flying career at the age of 13 with his first solo flight and certificate at the earliest legal ages of 16 and 17 years respectively, Lutz has continually excelled in completing courses in a timely and comprehensive manor. A graduate from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, arguably the world’s premier flight school, he acquired a Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Science with a minor study in Aviation Weather.
Lutz has an extensive record of operating safely and efficiently in the multi-crew as well as the single pilot instrument flight environment. Multi-crew operations have ranged from charter operations for casinos in turboprops, to humanitarian flights while living in Haiti during the disastrous earthquake, to VIP clientele in various Learjets. Embracing all things of flight, Lutz also maintains proficiency in rotorwing aircraft as a Commercial Helicopter and Gyroplane pilot. Additionally, he is one of only a handful of certified gyroplane instructors in the Northeast. His continued flight educational interests are glider aircraft as inspired by operating the solar-electric V0 Substrata.
In addition to operating above the fray, Lutz has experience importing non-Type Certified aircraft and conducting acquisition of piston and turbine powered aircraft. Perhaps more importantly, Lutz has coordinated with Designated Engineering Representatives to bring experimental aircraft into FAA legal compliance for flight testing as well as leisure flight.
